It started with an idea I read about having an art gallery exchange like the book exchanges in the little neighborhood libraries. I am an artist and my daughter Haley Stewart is an artist. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 2011. Her instagram is Hbiird_. She came up with the idea of painting master painters on each side of the gallery. One side is Andy Warhol’s “Marilyn Monroe”, one side is Rene Magritte’s “The Son of Man”, and one side is Pablo Picasso “Girl Before a Mirror”! We call it the “WHITTON LITTLE ART GALLERY”. There is instructions they say “take art …leave art”. Kids and adults leave art all the time. So fun to see and share. 

After, Haley and I had the idea for the art gallery we thought…” what if someone is walking by and wants to create some art but has no place or supplies”? Thus, I got a cement table and Haley painted that also with encouraging words about doing art. Then we needed an art supplies box. The art supplies box encourages people to feel free to take some art supplies and share and donate some art supplies to the box. 

Then, to help with the overall spirit I created a street sign that says “ART IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA”! 

We had a grand opening for the neighborhood Thanksgiving weekend 2024. Over 40 people attended. We painted rocks in the driveway for fun! Here are some pictures from the grand opening!

 This year Haley found a carnival horse in a dumpster. She repainted it and we had it installed next to the WHITTON LITTLE ART GALLERY for more fun for kids.
