On October 19, 2019, the Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood Association will provide free food and festivities for the neighborhood, in association with G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods), a City of Phoenix initiative, which “showcases the importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer Arizona.”

The Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood Association (AONA), a community organization whose mission is to, “enhance the quality of life for residents of our community through awareness of relevant issues and by promoting community involvement,” works behind the scenes on issues and policies affecting the neighborhood. AONA residents are all those who reside within its boundaries of Indian School Road to Thomas Road, 40th to 56th Street, which is a total of over 2,400 single family homes.

Through the Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood Picnic, AONA board members hope to entertain their friends and neighbors, while providing valuable resources about local happenings, crime-prevention and small businesses.

AONA President Wally Graham explains, “AONA believes it’s important to know your neighbors. Neighbors watch out for one another; help one another; and enjoy our neighborhood. The Arcadia Osborn Community Picnic is a good way to meet others in our community. It will be a beautiful day in our neighborhood.”

Before joining the AONA board, Allison Paquette, who is now the AONA Crime Prevention chairperson, attended the Arcadia G.A.I.N event last fall. “We were newcomers to the area and I was looking to connect more with the neighborhood, simple as that. We were so glad we went- not only did we have a great time at the picnic- my son loved the bounce house, which was a fun, happy surprise, and of course the first responders and their vehicles,” Allison explained, “we also made some great community connections and learned more about the area where we live.”

The Arcadia Osborn Neighborhood Picnic will take place at Arcadia Park on October 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hamburgers and Hotdogs, a bounce house and other entertainment is free of charge. All are welcome to attend. If you’d like additional information, email
