Here are some events coming up in the near future:
Saturday, Sept 15, 8 am – AONA Adopt-A-Street cleanup of 48th Street from Thomas to Indian School. Meet at Osborn and 48th St. I will have plastic bags, some gloves, and a couple of trash pickers.
Saturday, Sept 15, 8 am to 2 pm – The 2018 Furry Friends Fine Arts Festival will take place at the Shemer Art Center, 5005 E. Camelback Road, on Saturday. Attendees are encouraged to bring their Furry Friends and enjoy coffee from Black Cat Coffee House or lunch from Short Leash Hot Dogs, as they visit numerous artist booths featuring a variety of animal-themed works of art. In addition, attendees and their Furry Friends will enjoy visiting and learning about animal-related businesses in the Arcadia area, many of whom will have treats! There will be paw readings and pet adoptions. There will also be animal art activities for kids, plus live music, a raffle, food and fun! Admission: $5 per person, $10 per family (Furry Friends are free!). VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for tear-down.
Wednesday Sept 19, 6 pm – AONA Fall Public meeting at the First Chinese Baptist Church, 4910 East Earll. Meet your community action officers, find out how they recovered stolen property and made an arrest in a case here in Dennis Manor. Catering by Hog Wild Pit BBQ.
Wednesday Sept 26, 7 pm – FINAL PLANNING MEETING FOR 56th Street Project
at Great Hearts Veritas, Lund Center Auditorium, 3102 N. 56th Street, Phoenix.
Come see the final draft proposal and give suggestions for fine-tuning the project.
Saturday October 13, 2 to 5 PM – Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods (GAIN). Our G.A.I.N. Picnic is an annual event designed to encourage neighbors from all over Arcadia to meet, greet and get to know what our neighborhood is about. This event will showcase the importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. Your neighborhood associations will provide everything. Come and see first responder demonstrations and other fun activities (yes, the kids can get inside a fire truck and police car!). This is a family event, it’s neighborly, it’s fun, and everything is free!
